Best Bet Activities this week, October 26-31:

1. Visit the Bat Cave in  Phoenix. Come at dusk or dawn and enjoy the spectacular sight of the bats in their habitat. I keep this on the list because it’s Halloween!!

2. Go to a pumpkin patch. Local press gives Schnepf farms the best promotion, but I love Vertuccio Farms on Power Road. It is affordable at $7.00 a person, kids 4 and under are free. It has an awesome angry bird corn maze for the big kids and for younger kids it has a novel covered bounce. Not to mention, pumpkins, pizza garden, petting zoo and a manageable scale. You aren’t walking forever. tip: if you do the maze, take a picture of the solution on your cell phone. You might need it for reference!!

3. Eat outside!! Have you been to the Olive Mill in Queen Creek? This is a great place to take out of town guests. Imagine a non chain Paradise bakery style offerings. The prices are a little high for lunch but the food is high quality and healthy!! You can eat outside and the kids can roam around. I love to buy olive oil as hostess gifts for the holidays–it is priced right, healthy and has that great local flavor. Take the Olive tour. You might think you are not that interested in olives but the tour is fascinating.

Upcoming Best Bets!

Official Arizona State Historian (and storyteller++) Marshall Trimble comes to Gilbert to perform on Nov 19  at Higley Performing Arts Center w/ Dolan Ellis – 6:00pm. This is a must see event for fans of Arizona history or great entertainment. Don’t take my word for it, take the Library of Congress‘s.  They included Mr. Trimble in their select Arizona Local Legacy category.
