Week of May 21st
Hello!
Our last week of school, I can’t believe it! It is going to be a busy week. We are finishing up our science experiments, and getting ready for the Learning Celebration on Tuesday. As usual our Learning Celebration will be right after school. Come into the Classroom at 3:30 to pick up your child and they can show you what they have been working on.
We are finishing up our Economics Unit, the student businesses were very successful. We are going to have an auction on Wed. May 23rd and students can spend the money they have earned. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Anything you happen to have around the house, school supplies, unwanted toys, games or even snack items. Please send all items in by Tues. May 22nd. Thank you in advance for all of your help.
We have finished up our testing! I’m getting all the data together and will be sending home detailed reports at the end of the year. These will also include ideas for your child to work on over summer that are directly tied to where they have finished this year and in anticipation for next year.
Here is an overview of what we are doing this week but please look at each individual page for a more detailed look.
Mathematics Some groups have started working in the 6th grade book while others are working on Fractions and Geometry and others are on Measurement.
Language Arts We are doing Grammar Review and Vocabulary Building. Our read aloud book is Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls.
Social Studies We are finishing the Great Depression, which will tie in with our read aloud book Where the Red Fern Grows. We will also finish our Economics with a class auction.
Science We are finishing up experiments. The power points are finished, the speeches are finished and this week they will present to the class.
Words Their Way No more spelling words this year. The end of the year assessment in spelling will be this week. Starting next week we will work on vocabulary building in the place of spelling.
