Clubs

This year, instead of sending home printed club catalogs, we will post the catalog and registration form on this webpage.  We will have some hard copies in the office for parents if needed.

 

Club Notes

  • Registration for winter clubs will begin on January 23, 2012. Payment is due upon registration.
  • Clubs will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. They will be closed when spots are filled, but a waiting list will be maintained.
  • Each student is limited to participating in two clubs per semester.
  • A Club Registration Form must be filled out for each student per club. Please fill out this form prior to registration and bring completed form with you to registration. Club Registration Form Spring 2012
  • A student may only participate in clubs if their grades remain satisfactory and behavior remains appropriate as determined by school administration.
  • If a student is not picked up within 5 minutes of the end of an afternoon club, they will be taken to afterschool care and the parents will be charged accordingly.
  • Year round clubs will resume at the same time as the new Spring clubs. There is no additional fee for continuing.
  • Club registration fees are NON-refundable unless the club is cancelled due to extenuating circumstances.
  • All companies who are sponsoring a club have been screened and have Fingerprint Clearance Card verification.
  • Please take note of any registration directions in the club catalog on how to register your child for a club activity and how many club activities your child can participate in.
  • Clubs will end on Friday, May 4th, 2012 .
  • Please note that when there is a K – 7 half day no clubs will be held for preschoolers or K – 7 students.

Bead Jewelry Club
Mondays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades 3-7,

Come and have fun exploring the world of bead jewelry! This club will introduce students how to use beads to make jewelry and more! Each student will get to  create their original pieces in this fun and exciting club!

Boy Scouts
Thursdays at 6:00pm, Cost: $85
The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Boy Scout Troop 522 is a traditional unit open to boys that have completed the fifth grade and are at least ten years of age. Troop 522 does not meet every second Thursday of the month.**This club is not in open enrollment at this time.**

Chess Emporium Club
Fridays from 7:30-8:30am, Grades K-7,

Studies have shown that chess can help students increase their math and verbal skills, as well as their creative and critical thinking abilities.

Dancing Roadrunners
Mondays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades PK-2,
Cost: $15

The participants will learn a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and hip hop. Dancing with an assortment of props will keep the students engaged and excited to learn all dance styles. Students will be performing at a school function.

Discovery Kids Puterbug Technology Class  
Thursdays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades PK-1,

The leaders of technology education at Imagine Tomorrow have teamed up with the experts at Discovery Kids (Discovery Channel) to bring your school Discovery Kids Puterbugs, an essential program that teaches young children to apply the powerful uses of today’s technology in creative and meaningful ways. Each student would be provided a laptop for learning. Each week a certificated technology teacher will introduce students to a specific topic of computer and technology, such as Keyboarding, Network, Short-cut keystroke, Technology & Science, etc.  Parents would be provided an online access for weekly lesson review at home with their child.

Girl Scouts
Mondays from 5:30-7:00pm, Grades K-7,
Cost: $57

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girls learn to be leaders in their community through games, crafts, and community service projects. The girls make lifelong friendships through this organization that will help support them in many aspects of their lives. We will go on camping trips, explore the outdoors, learn life skills and have parties and bonding times as well. Daisy’s will receive a snack. Parents are to purchase uniform and pay 1/2 of field trip costs to secure spots.**This club is not in open enrollment at this time**

Golf Club   Flyer

This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to play golf! The Better Golf Academy Kids offers the finest afterschool at-school golf enrichment program. This after school club will cover aspects of the golf swing as well as basic rules and etiquette of the game. Award winning Golf professionals and credentialed elementary school teachers designed the program!

Jr. Cheer Club
Mondays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades K-2,

Do you have San Tan spirit?! Cheer Club is where you need to be! This club will be for grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade, focusing on stretching, kicking, jumping, and cheers! If you are ready to get rowdy and have a good time, join the Jr. Cheer Club!

Jr. Lego Robotics Club   Flyer    ***FULL***
Mondays from 3:50-5:00pm, Grades 1-2,
Cost: $90

Design and build structural models, bridges, towers, pyramids, gravity cars, motorized  machines, catapults, demolition derby cards and other constructions out of LEGO bricks. With access to over 500,000 pieces of LEGO, children will have the opportunity to build what they have only dreamed of with the support of an experienced instructor to guide them through the building process.

Jr. Molders Club   ***FULL***

Students will get the chance to mold and create objects using Moon Dough, the amazing moldable, holdable, squishable, squashable, dough that never dries out! Students will have various Moon Dough stations to create to their interest and desire.

Participants will learn Freestyle Karate which is a mix of several styles, mostly TaeKwonDo and Kenpo. Students will learn the importance of how to properly defend themselves and what to do in situations where someone is trying to hurt them or do something to them that they do not want. Karate is also great for working on the kids listening, focus, discipline, and respect.**This is a 4-week only club with the last meet date on February 21st**

Lego Junior Club

Do you like to build and create new things out of Legos? In this club, students will make a Lego creation each week based on a given theme. Come join in on the fun!

Mad Science Club   Flyer

Mad Science classes are fun, hands-on, and meets all State and National Science  Standards. This session we will be teaching about Bugs, Detective Science, Mineral Mania, Kitchen Chemistry, Acids & Bases, Science of Toys, Simple Machines, and Walloping Weather.**This is an 8-week only club with the last meet date on April 13, 2012**

Puppet Theater
Mondays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades 2-7,
Cost: $20

Do you like to act, do funny voices, and create fun things? In Puppet Theater, you will learn the basics of putting on a puppet show. At the end of the club semester, we will put on a puppet show demonstrating all that you have learned!

San Tan Pep Squad
Thursdays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades 3-7,
Cost: $15 for returning/$25 for new participants

Participants will learn basic concepts of a cheerleading squad, including roadrunner  cheers, jumps, and basic stunts. Cheer shirt (for new participants) and pom-pom rental included with club cost. If you are a returning participant, please bring your shirt to wear at practices. Students will perform at a school function. This club is a great way to show your Roadrunner Spirit!

Robotics Club   Flyer
Tuesdays from 3:50-5:00pm, Grades 3-7,

Students will take on real-life engineering challenges that explore concepts in physics,  architecture, mechanical and structural engineering with over 500,000 pieces of LEGO material. From race cars to MonoBots, this is a hands-on and minds-on program suitable for LEGO novices to “maniacs.” Designed by engineers and Lego Education, the curriculum challenges both new and returning student to reach the next level of engineering comprehension, all while having fun.

Sports Club
Wednesdays from 3:50-4:30pm, Grades 3-7,

What a great way to get more exercise throughout your day!! Students will be focusing on technique, rules and sportsman-ship of many sports including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and many more!!

Talent Team – Sing, Dance, Act!
Thursdays from 3:50-4:50pm, Grades K-7,
Cost: $145

Talent Team provides students in K-7th grade the opportunity to learn performing arts skills and life skills hand in hand so they can become proficient in singing, dancing, and acting AND confident, capable, and contributing members of society. Throughout the 12 week program, students will learn a 30 minute show that they will perform three times.  Once at the school on the last day of class, and twice out in the community.  Students will learn the show “Broadway Bound” which contains songs such as “Seussical” and “The Sound of Music Medley.” Students will learn how to use a microphone, public speaking skills, working as a team, and so much more!  Come join us for an amazing experience in the performing arts!
Students will each receive a show t-shirt, show CD to practice at home, and rented costumes as part of your club cost.
Parents will just need to provide the basic black for foundation of the costume for the show- Black cotton/ Lycra leotard and jazz pants, tan tights, black jazz or ballet shoes.  We look forward to working with your child.

Young Rembrandts Club   Flyer

Put a SMILE on your face as you explore the fun, artistic world of Young Rembrandts Drawing and Cartooning classes! You will discover that complex objects can be broken down into familiar shapes; then use problem solving skills, innovation, and imagination to build a work of art. Lessons are NEW each week and taught by Young Rembrandts certified instructors. All supplies are included in the cost.

Harry Potter Movie Club   REQUIRED Harry Potter Permission Slip

Calling all Harry Potter fans! Relax after school with friends and enjoy the movies and Harry Potter trivia.  We will start with the first year and watch to the fifth year!  Snacks will be provided.

Guitar Club
Tuesdays from 3:50-4:50pm, Grades 4-7,
Cost: $75

Students will learn how to play chords, and notes on the guitar. We will also focus on strumming patterns, and how to use various picking styles. Students will also learn how to read music notation including guitar TAB. Fit Factor
Fridays from 3:50-4:50 , Grades K-7,
Cost: $89
This program is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for kids through fun and upbeat exercises and simple nutritional education.  Workouts will be based on playground games, relays, and drills.
Younger kids’ (K-2nd) workouts will be based on animal movements and other imaginary actions to keep the workout entertaining and effective at the same time. Sponsored by Funktional Fitness.

Youth Fit
Tuesdays from 3:50-4:50 , Grades K-7,
Cost: $89
During this energy packed, sports type conditioning club your child will be running through speed ladders, performing agility drills around cones, and working on different sports skills to gain more confidence and team working skills while having fun and becoming more physically fit.
