Hello San Tan Families,
Welcome back for our second half of the 2011-2012 school year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable break and you are feeling refreshed and ready to dive into the New Year. We had a great first day back yesterday with teachers and students all very excited to get back to work in the classrooms! This month we have some great events coming up that I would like to tell you about.
First, do not forget that the deadline for February lunch orders is coming up soon. The February 2012 Lunch Order form is available at: http://www.santanlearningcenter.com/families/school-lunch/. Orders are due Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 with no late orders being accepted.
On Wednesday, January 18th the 2nd and 3rd grade teaching staff is sponsoring a Parent Math Night beginning at 6:00 p.m. Parent math night will focus on making math fun, hands-on, and accessible at home. They will demonstrate simple, inexpensive, and exciting ways to reinforce math using everyday objects in your home. Please come support these teachers as they have the common goal with parents of helping students reach their mathematics goals.
The Golf Tournament, April 21st, is quickly approaching, so come and find out how to get involved with the second annual golf tournament! Save the date on January 24th at 6:30pm to join us in the gym. Moms and dads are welcome. Daddy Daughter Dance tickets are now available at the front office. The Dance will be February 4th and grades K-1st will be from 5-6:30pm and grades 2nd-7th from 6:30-8pm. If you have daughters in multiple grades, then choose the time that is most convenient for your family. Please join us for an evening of dancing and light snacks. Tickets are $10 a piece for admission of a dad and his daughter(s). The dad’s club will also be holding a bake sale during the dance. If you could please donate a baked item to be sold and either bring it to the dance or drop it off on Feb. 4th. There will be a sign up genius coming out soon for volunteers and baked goods.
Club registration for 2nd semester clubs will be held over three days, January 23rd-25th. There will be more information to come as the club catalog is finalized. Please contact Ms. Campbell at ccampbell@santanlc.com, if you are interested in sponsoring a club. Clubs begin on the week of January 30th.
The San Tan Roadrunner Committee is sponsoring a shop for schools night at Fresh and Easy on January 26th from 4-6:00 p.m. San Tan receives a portion of the proceeds from sales, so please plan your grocery shopping for this time. You may even see some San Tan teachers bagging your groceries! Fresh and Easy is right on the corner of Ray & Higley, just across the parking lot from San Tan.
Finally, please note on your January calendars that there is no school on January 16th and January 25th is a half-day.
As you can see we have a busy month as our vibrant Family Engagement Committee and staff continue to plan so many great events for our San Tan Family! I look forward to seeing many of you at the parent math night next week.
